- 2 c. raisins
- 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. grated lemon peel
- 1 c. oleo, softened
- 1 1/3 c. uncooked oats
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

3In a medium saucepan, combine the raisins, milk, lemon juice and peel; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture begins to bubble.

4Remove from heat; cool slightly and set aside.

5Beat oleo, brown sugar and vanilla together until fluffy.

6Add oatmeal, flour, walnuts, soda and salt; blend until evenly mixed and crumbly.

7Reserve 2 cups.

8Press the remaining mixture over bottom of pan.

9Spread raisin mixture to within 1/2-inch of top. Sprinkle with remaining oat mixture, patting down.

10Bake 25 to 30 minutes or golden brown.

11Cool and cut into bars.

12Makes about 4 dozen.
