Ingredients
- 1 cured ham hock or 1 small chunk cured pork side meat
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black or red pepper
- 1 bunch fresh turnips
- 4 c. water
Directions

1Place meat and water in a large pot along with salt, pepper and sugar.

2Boil until meat is almost cooked.

3Remove from heat. Cut roots off of turnip, peel and slice.

4Remove stems from turnip top.

5Put roots and tops together and wash several times. Place in pot with meat and cook 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

6Add more water if needed.
