Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. butter, melted (1/2 c. if pudding is in the mix)
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels (1/2 pkg. more, if desired)
  • 1 (6 or 12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Mix cake mix with melted butter and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Pat half of this cake mixture into lightly greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Bake at 350° for 8 minutes.

    Let cool.

    Sprinkle chocolate chips and 1 cup nuts on top.

    Drizzle caramel that has been melted in double boiler with 1/3 cup evaporated milk.

    Cool a little. Spread remaining cake mixture on top of caramel mixture; add remaining nuts.

    Press in.

    Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool.

    Cut into bars.
