- 1/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 German chocolate cake mix
- 14 oz. pkg. vanilla caramels (unwrapped)
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter, softened
- 2 Tbsp. evaporated milk
- 6 oz. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2In medium saucepan over low heat, combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk; stir constantly until caramels are melted.

3In a large bowl, combine cake mix, nuts, margarine and 2 tablespoons evaporated milk.

4Mix well.

5Press half of dough into bottom of ungreased 13 x 9-inch pan; reserve remaining dough for topping.

6Bake at 350° for 8 minutes.

7Sprinkle chips evenly over top of crust.

8Carefully spread caramel mixture over chips.

9Crumble reserved dough over caramel mixture.

10Return to oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until filling is set. Cool completely; cut into squares.

11Makes 36 bars.
