- 1 (14 oz.) bag Kraft caramels
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 3/4 stick, 6 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 1 c. pecans, chopped or half pieces
Directions

1Melt together over low heat; caramels, milk and margarine. Try not to let it boil.

2When heated, stir smooth and set aside. Prepare cake mix, using directions on box.

3Pour 1/4 of the batter into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan.

4Bake in preheated 350° oven for 15 minutes.

5Remove from oven and pour caramel mixture over hot cake, keeping as much as possible from going down sides of pan as cake shrinks.

6Pour remaining batter evenly over caramel layer. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans.

7Return to oven and bake 20 minutes longer, or until done.
