- 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 (18 1/4 oz.) pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 2 c. chopped pecans
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.

3Combine caramels, butter and milk in heavy medium saucepan.

4Stir over medium-low heat until caramels melt and mixture is smooth, about 6 minutes.

5Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour half the batter into prepared pan.

6Bake until top appears dry and cake is almost done, about 15 minutes.

7Pour caramel mixture evenly over cake.

8Sprinkle 1 cup pecans and chocolate chips over caramels.

9Pour remaining batter over filling.

10Sprinkle with remaining pecans. Bake until toothpick inserted into top half of cake comes out clean, about 30 minutes.

11Cool cake completely.
