- 1 box German or Swiss chocolate cake mix
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1 c. oil
- 1 c. water
- 3 eggs
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk (to be divided)
- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
- 1 c. pecans
Directions

1In a bowl, cut margarine in cake mix with fork.

2Add water, oil, eggs and 1/2 can of condensed milk.

3Pour 1/2 batter into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.

4Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Melt caramels and 1/2 condensed milk in double boiler.

5Stir in chopped pecans.

6Spread on hot half of cake.

7Add remaining 1/2 of cake batter and bake for 30 minutes.

8Make icing.
