  • 1 German chocolate cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 3/4 c. margarine
  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1/3 c. plus 2 Tbsp. canned milk
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

Directions

    Combine dry cake mix, eggs, water and margarine until smooth. Pour half of batter into a 9 x 13-inch greased pan.

    Bake 15 minutes at 350°.

    Melt caramels and milk in double boiler.

    Pour over cake but not to edges.

    Sprinkle chocolate chips next and then pecans.

    Pour remaining batter over all.

    Bake 30 minutes at 350°.

    Let cool.

    This cake is delicious by itself or it can be topped with French icing, ice cream or whipped cream.
