  • 3/4 c. margarine
  • 3/4 c. dry cocoa
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. flour

    In large mixing bowl, cream margarine, cocoa and sugar. Beat in egg. Add in one at a time and stir the baking powder, salt, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla. Mix in flour. Roll into 3/4-inch balls. Place 1 1/2-inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Flatten balls to 1/4-inch thickness with 2 of your fingers to make design. Bake in preheated 375° oven for 8 minutes. Yield: 3 dozen.
