Ingredients

  • 1/2 peck (1 gal.) tomatoes (not too ripe)
  • 2 green peppers
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 c. salt
  • 1 pt. vinegar
  • 1 pt. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. white mustard seed
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper

Directions

    Put tomatoes, peppers and onions through food grinder or chop very fine.

    Mix with 1 cup salt.

    Put in a thin bag and hang to drain for 24 hours.

    Then mix thoroughly with vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, celery seed and cayenne pepper.

    Do not cook or heat this mixture.

    It keeps perfectly with sealing.

    Makes about 3 pints.
