  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/8 c. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. butter, softened
  • 1/2 Tbsp. plus 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • whipped cream

    Bake pie shell.

    Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt in saucepan. Stir in milk gradually.

    Cook over medium heat; stir constantly until thick and boiling.

    Boil and stir 1 minute.

    Stir 1/2 hot mixture into egg yolks; add to mixture in pan.

    Boil and stir 1 minute.

    Remove from heat.

    Stir in butter and vanilla.

    Pour into pie shell.

    Press plastic wrap onto filling.

    Refrigerate at least 2 hours, no longer than 48.

    Remove plastic; top with whip cream.
