- 2/3 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. milk
- 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Mix in a saucepan sugar, cornstarch and salt.

2Stir in gradually the milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.

3Boil 1 minute.

4Remove from heat and gradually add at least 1/2 of hot mixture into egg yolks, then blend into hot mixture into saucepan.

5Boil 1 minute more, stirring constantly.

6Remove from heat.

7Blend in butter and vanilla.

8Pour into baked pie shell.

9Add meringue on top.
