  • 1 1/2 c. frozen mixed vegetables
  • 2 c. rice, soaked in water for 4 hours
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 4 c. water
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 dry hot red peppers
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 5 whole black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf

    Put butter in a 5-quart saucepan, at medium-high heat.

    When melted, add all the spices.

    Add the onion and saute until brown, then add the mixed vegetables and cook for 3 minutes.
