  • 1/2 head cabbage, sliced
  • 4 or 5 potatoes, sliced
  • 3 or more large onions, sliced
  • 1 qt. tomatoes, chopped or 1 qt. tomato juice
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. bacon or pork drippings

Directions

    Cover vegetables with water and boil gently for 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

    Add salt and seasonings.

    Add tomato juice.

    Simmer at least 30 minutes (longer if chopped tomatoes are used).

    Serve hot with crackers or cornbread.
