- 1 lb. chuck meat with a marrow bone
- 4 carrots, sliced
- 1 head cabbage, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 can plum tomatoes (large can)
- 1 green or red pepper, chopped
- 1 can yellow string beans or fresh if available
- 2 c. lima beans or frozen
- 1/4 lb. butter or oleo (optional)
- 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
Directions

1Cover the chuck meat with 2 quarts cold water and boil 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

2Use vegetables that take longer to cook (carrots, cabbage, onion, pepper and tomatoes).

3When tender, add lima beans and yellow string beans.

4Before cooking vegetables, add 1/4 pound butter or oleo and 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar.
