- 6 to 8 large tart apples
- 9-inch unbaked pastry shell
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. gingersnap crumbs
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- few grains salt
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 1/3 c. maple syrup
Directions

1Core and pare apples.

2Slice thin.

3Spread about half the slices in a pastry shell.

4Combine all remaining ingredients, except maple syrup.

5Mix well. Spread half of this mixture over apples.

6Add rest of apple slices and spread remaining crumb mixture evenly over top.

7Bake in moderate 350° oven about 50 minutes.

8Heat syrup to boil.

9Pour over pie.

10Bake additional 15 minutes.
