Ingredients
- 3 lb. lean stewing beef, well trimmed and cut in 1-inch cubes
- 1/4 c. salad oil
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 to 6 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. ground cumin
- 2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
- 1 (4 oz.) can green chilies, seeded and chopped
- 1 qt. water
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
Directions

1In large saucepan, brown beef in oil.

2Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

3Bring to boil.

4Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until meat is tender.

5Garnish with chopped onion.

6If desired, serve with additional hot pepper sauce.

7Serves 4 to 6.
