- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 (10 oz.) jar raspberry or apricot jam
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate bits
- 4 egg whites
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 c. finely chopped walnuts
Directions

1Cream butter, egg yolks and 1/2 cup sugar.

2Add flour, kneading with fingers to form dough.

3Pat dough into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

4Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 350°.

5Spread the base with jam.

6Top with chocolate bits.

7Beat egg whites with salt until stiff.

8Fold in sugar and nuts.

9Spread mixture on top of jam.

10Bake about 25 minutes at 350°.

11Makes 30 bars.
