Vietnamese Fried Rice

  • 2 c. rice
  • 1 lb. pork
  • 1 lb. shrimp
  • 1 pkg. frozen peas
  • 1 small onion
  • 3 tsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • pinch of black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • pinch of Accent (optional)

    Wash the

    Cook rice in 3 cups water.

    Chop onion and cook

    in frypan containing 1 tablespoon oil.

    Place small pieces of pork in oil.

    After seasoning with salt, pepper and sugar, fry for

    minutes. Remove pork and cook shrimp in same manner for only 5 minutes.

    Remove shrimp from pan.

    Cook peas.

    Use another skillet to fry the cooked rice in 1 tablespoon of

    oil. Add

    pork, shrimp and peas to fried rice and cook on

    medium heat

    for 10 minutes.

    You may add a pinch of Accent, if

    desired. Yellow food coloring may be added at the time rice is being cooked to add a more appetizing color.
