  • 1 c. corn meal
  • 3 Tbsp. powdered buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 egg
  • water

Directions

    Sift all dry ingredients.

    Add oil, egg and just enough water to make a batter.

    Bake in iron cornstick pans or an iron skillet that has been well-greased and hot.

    While preheating the oven to 400°, heat the irons or skillet for they must be hot.

    Bake 7 to 8 minutes for cornsticks or 10 minutes in skillet (until browned). Serves 4 to 6.
