  • 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar

Directions

    In large bowl, cream butter, confectioners sugar, vanilla and salt until fluffy.

    Stir in flour and walnuts until well blended. Cover and chill 30 minutes or until firm enough to handle.

    Break off small dough pieces and on lightly floured surface roll with hands into finger-thick strips.

    Cut in 2-inch lengths.

    Taper ends, then shape into crescents.

    Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake in preheated oven (300°) for 18 to 20 minutes or until firm to touch.

    While warm, roll in granulated sugar. Place on racks to cool.

    Store airtight in cool place.
