- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped California walnuts
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/3 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces, melted
- 1/2 c. California walnuts, finely chopped
Directions

1Butter 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan.

2In 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, heat sugar, butter, salt and water to boiling, stirring often.

3Continue cooking to 290° or drop test into cold water until thread are hard but not brittle.

4Remove mixture from heat; stir in coarsely chopped walnuts and soda.

5Pour at once into pan.

6Spread top with melted chocolate and sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts.

7Cool.

8By hand, snap candy into small pieces.
