- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
Directions

1Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.

2Set aside. Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy.

3Add egg yolks and vanilla.

4Beat thoroughly.

5Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk in small amounts, beating well after each addition.

6Add nuts; blend.

7Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into batter. Pour into a greased loaf pan.

8Bake at 350° for about 50 minutes.
