- 1 c. Crisco shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 c. milk
- 4 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 10 oz. box currants
Directions

1Cream shortening.

2Add sugar and cream together well.

3Add beaten eggs and milk.

4Sift dry ingredients and add to the mixture.

5Stir in currants.

6Roll dough on lightly floured board to a 1/4 inch thickness.

7Cut with a round cookie cutter.

8Bake on an ungreased griddle over low flame or on electric griddle heated to 350°.

9Turn cookie when it is golden brown, but only turn once.
