- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 c. + 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. currants or raisins
- 1 egg
- a little water or milk
Directions

1Sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.

2Cut in butter. Add sugar and currants.

3Make a stiff dough with egg and a little water or milk.

4Roll out 1/4-inch thick and cut into 2-inch circles.

5Bake on griddle or in electric fry pan set at 340°, turning cakes once.

6When cool, sprinkle with fine granulated sugar.

7Serve warm or cold with marmalade.
