- 3 pkg. dry yeast
- 5 c. water (lukewarm)
- 2 c. scalded milk
- 6 tsp. salt
- 6 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. lard (part butter)
- 24 c. flour
Directions

1Add yeast to one cup lukewarm water.

2Let stand 10 minutes. Measure two cups of scalded milk and five cups of water into a large bowl.

3Add salt, sugar and lard, then add yeast; stir.

4Add flour a little at a time.

5Stir.

6When all flour has been added and mixed in.

7Lay dough on floured board or table and knead into a medium dough.

8Let dough raise until doubled in bulk.

9Knead down and let rise again.

10Put out on floured board.

11Shape into loaves (1 1/2 pound dough).

12Fork top for air holes.

13Let rise.

14Bake at 375° about 25 to 30 minutes.

15Take out of pans.

16Cover with wax paper and cover with towel until cool.

17Makes 6 to 8 loaves.
