- 6 1/2 to 7 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 1/4 c. water
- 1 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1In large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups flour, yeast, salt and sugar.

2Mix well.

3In saucepan, heat water, milk and shortening until very warm, 120° to 130°.

4Shortening does not need to melt. Add to flour mixture.

5Blend at low speed until blended.

6Beat 3 minutes.

7By hand stir in enough flour to make firm dough.

8Knead 5 to 8 minutes.

9Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover; let rise until double, about 1 hour.

10Punch down.

11Divide into two parts.

12Roll each into a 14 x 7-inch rectangle, starting with short side; roll tight.

13Put into greased loaf pan, turning to grease top to let rise again until dough gets to top of loaf pan, about 30 minutes.

14Bake in a preheated oven at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes or until brown and the loaves have a hollow sound when tapped.
