White Cake

   Cream

   shortening

   and sugar.

   Measure and sift all dry ingredients; mix alternately with shortening and sugar and the first 3/4

   cup of milk.

   When this is blended, add vanilla and remaining 1/4 cup milk.

   Beat egg whites until very stiff; add remaining 1/2

   sugar and fold into batter.

    Bake as a layer cake or

    sheet cake.

    Bake at 350° for about 35 minutes. Cool and frost with your favorite frosting.
