  • 1 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. maraschino cherries, chopped
  • 1/2 c. pineapple, drained and cut into small pieces
  • 1 c. nut meats
  • 5 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. orange juice

    Cream shortening; add sugar.

    Add egg yolks one at a time; beat well.

    Add raisins, cherries, pineapple and nut meats.

    Sift together flour and baking powder.

    Add 1 cup milk and 1 cup orange juice alternately.

    Lastly fold in egg whites beaten stiff.

    Pour into prepared pan.

    Bake in slow oven at 275° to 300° about 2 1/2 hours.
