  • 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 2 cups Warm Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Active Yeast
  • 1/2 cups Shortening
  • 5-1/2 cups White Wheat Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Salt

Directions

    Add sugar to warm water (120-130°F) and stir in yeast. Add shortening and allow to soften. Cover for about 5 minutes or until yeast has dissolved.

    Whisk together flour and salt. Stir into yeast mixture and knead for about 5 minutes. Cover with a tea towel and let rise, about 10 minutes. Stir down and repeat twice.

    Divide dough in half and shape into loaves. Place into well greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise.

    Heat oven to 350°F. Bake loaves for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool 10 minutes in the pan and remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
