Whole Wheat Batter Bread

- 1 tsp. (1 pkg.) active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 c. warm water (105~ to 115~)
- 1 Tbsp. honey OR brown sugar
- 2 c. white flour, unsifted
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 c. whole wheat flour, unsifted
- 2 tsp. butter, melted
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Add honey (or brown sugar), half the white flour, salt and oil.

3Beat 2 minutes on medium speed, or 300 vigorous strokes by hand, scraping sides and bottom of bowl frequently.

4Using a spoon, blend in the whole wheat flour and the remaining white flour.

5Cover with damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.
