- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons margarine or 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup skim milk
- for herb biscuits
- 1/4 teaspoon basil
- 1/4 teaspoon cilantro
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Directions

1Combine flours, baking powder and salt in a bowl.

2Cut in margarine with a pastry blender or 2 knives.

3Add milk, mix quickly.

4Turn out onto a floured board.

5Knead 6 to 8 times.

6Roll 1/4 inch thick.

7Cut into 12, 2 inch round biscuits or into wedges or squares.

8Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.

9Bake in a 425°F oven 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned.

10For herb biscuits, add basil, thyme and parsley to dry ingredients.

11(These make great dumplings).
