- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening (Crisco solid)
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Combine first 5 ingredients, mixing well.

2Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.

3Add buttermilk; stir until moistened.

4Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead lightly 4 to 5 times.

5Roll dough to 1/2-inch; cut with 2 3/4-inch biscuit cutter.

6Place on ungreased baking sheet.

7Bake at 450° for 10 minutes or until browned.
