- pastry for a 10-inch pie shell
- 1 c. light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. apple pie spice or cinnamon
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 6 to 8 tart apples or 2 (No. 2) cans presliced apples
Directions

1Line pie plate with pastry.

2Mix together sugar, flour, apple pie spice and butter until crumbly (use pastry blender or 2 knives).

3Spread about one third of this mixture over the bottom of the pastry.

4Peel apples, core and cut into slices.

5Place in crust.

6Spoon remaining sugar mixture over the apples.

7Bake at 350° until golden brown (about one hour).
