- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 4 Tbsp. shortening (Crisco)
- 3/4 to 1 c. buttermilk
Directions

1In a bread tray, sift generous amount of self-rising flour. Make an indention in the center.

2In indentions, place shortening. Work this into the flour, adding flour as needed, using fingers. Add buttermilk until it forms the consistency of biscuit dough and can be handled without being sticky.

3Roll out by hand and shape into biscuits on biscuit pan.

4Bake about 10 minutes at 400°. Handle dough as little as possible.
