- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/4 c. water
- flour (plain)
Directions

1Mix yeast and 1/4 cup water until dissolved.

2Add sugar, salt, egg and liquid or melted shortening.

3Mix well with whisk. Add 1 1/4 cups warm water; mix well.

4Add enough flour until mixture can be handled.

5Grease top.

6Cover with cloth and let rise until doubles in size.

7Make into rolls or loaves.

8Let rise again until it doubles.

9Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes.

10Will make 2 large loaves or 18 rolls.
