  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • shortening
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 7 to 8 c. flour

Directions

    Mix yeast, salt and 1/4 cup water; stir.

    Add sugar, shortening and 2 cups water, then gradually add flour.

    Knead and let it rise until double in size.

    Now it's ready to shape in rolls or a loaf. Let rise again, then bake at 400° for 20 minutes if making rolls or bake loaf at 350° for 45 minutes to an hour.
