  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 or 2 eggs
  • 5 to 6 c. all-purpose flour

Directions

    Put yeast in lukewarm water to soften. Scald milk and add sugar, salt and shortening. Let cool to lukewarm. Add 2 cups flour and mix thoroughly. Add egg(s) and softened yeast. Beat well. Add enough more flour to make a soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Place in a large greased bowl and turn once to grease all sides. Cover with Saran Wrap that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray on 1 side. This will keep dough from sticking. Put in refrigerator overnight or at least several hours.
