Yeast Rolls(Heritage Recipe)

- 1 1/2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 c. warm water
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 3 c. flour (if making whole wheat, use 1 c. whole-wheat and 2 c. white as the bread flour)
- soft butter or oleo
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2Dissolve yeast in water in 2 1/2 qt. bowl.

3Add sugar, oil, salt, and egg.

4Mix to dissolve.

5Add 1 c. of flour and mix until smooth.

6Cover with cloth.

7Place on rack over bowl of hot water. let rise 15 minutes.

8Grease pan 12 x 9 inch.

9Stir batter, add rest of flour.

10Mix good.
-
11Turn on floured board.

12Knead 3 minutes.

13Divide into 20 pieces.

14Shape in balls. Place in pan.

15Brush tops with butter.

16Cover with cloth.

17Place over hot water.
-
18Let rise 25 minutes.

19Bake 12 - 15 minutes or until brown.

20Brush tops with butter.
