- 2 c. cake flour, unsifted or 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 375°.

2Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans or a 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking pan.

3Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt thoroughly.

4Mix in fat, eggs, vanilla and 1/2 milk; beat 2 minutes at medium speed, then add remaining milk and beat another 2 minutes longer.

5Pour batter in pans.

6Bake 25 to 30 minutes until cake surface springs back.

7Cool on cake rack for a few minutes.

8Remove from pan.

9Frost with frosting of your choice.
