  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. cake flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1/2 c. oil

    egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff, then add 1/2 cup sugar, beat in egg white mixture.

    In another bowl take 1 cup sugar, flour and baking powder, then add egg yolks, water and oil;

    Fold in egg whites and 1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon flavoring.

    Turn into ungreased 13 x 9 1/4-inch pan for 25 to 35 minutes in 350° oven.
