  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1-1/3 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup shortening

Directions

    Combine corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

    Add milk, egg and shortening.

    Beat until fairly smooth, approximately 1 minute.

    Turn batter into a greased 8-inch baking pan and bake at 425F for 20 to 25 minutes.
