Ingredients

  • 2 quarts water
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup half-and-half
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 2 teaspoons whole cloves
  • 2 teaspoons cardamom seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions

    Bring the water to a boil, then reduce it to a simmer.
