- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 34 cup water
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 12 teaspoon salt
- cooking oil
Directions

1Sprinkle yeast into water.

2Let stand for a few minutes; then stir till dissolved.

3Beat in egg, flour, and salt.

4When smooth, cover and let stand in a warm place until doubled in bulk.

5Beat down, and let rise until doubled again.

6Drop by Tablespoonfuls into 1 inch of hot (375F) oil.

7When browned on one side, turn and brown on other side.

8Drain on absorbent paper.

9Can be rolled in, or sprinkled with sugar.

10Tablespoons of dough can be formed around pieces of fruit, or raisins can be mixed into the dough before frying.
