- variety pkg. beans
- large onion
- 1 pod red pepper
- 1 large can tomatoes
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- juice of 1 lemon
- salt
Directions

1Wash beans.

2Place in large kettle; cover with water and add 2 tablespoons salt.

3Soak overnight.

4In the morning, drain and add quart of water, ham or pork hock and bring to boil.

5Simmer slowly 2 1/2 or 3 hours.

6May have to add more water.

7To this, add onion, tomatoes, red pepper chili powder, lemon juice and salt.

8Simmer another 30 minutes.

9Good with corn bread.
