- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 -2 tablespoons grated, peeled fresh ginger
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup robust (dark) molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup pear nectar
- 1/4 cup crystallized ginger
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2Butter and flour 8x8x2-inch baking pan.

3Mix first 8 ingredients in medium bowl.

4Beat butter and brown sugar in large until fluffy.

5Add molasses and egg and beat to blend.

6Stir in pear nectar, then dry ingredients and chopped ginger.

7Transfer batter to pan.

8Bake cake until tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 35 minutes. Transfer pan to rack; cool cake 15 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature with brown sugar whipped cream.
