Ingredients
- 1 1/2 gal. cucumbers
- 1 c. salt
- 1 Tbsp. ginger
- 1 Tbsp. alum
- 8 c. vinegar
- 12 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. pickling spice
Directions

1Wash and cut up cucumbers.

2Put in churn.

3Mix salt in 1 gallon water and pour over cucumbers.

4Let stand 3 days.

5Drain off salt water.

6Cover with alum water (1 tablespoon to 1 gallon water).

7Let stand 1 day.

8Drain and cover with ginger water (1 tablespoon ginger to 1 gallon water).

9Let stand 1 day.

10Drain and rinse cucumbers once and drain well.

11Put back in churn.

12Mix vinegar, sugar and pickling spice and bring to a boil.

13Put over cucumbers.

14Let stand 1 day.

15Next day, put cucumbers in jars. Boil liquid and pour over pickles.

16Seal and store.
