  • 1 head lettuce
  • 1/2 c. green pepper
  • 1/2 c. celery
  • 1 Spanish onion
  • 1 pkg. frozen peas
  • 2 c. Hellmann's mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • Cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices bacon

Directions

    Break lettuce in bite size pieces.

    Chop celery and green pepper very fine.
  3. 3
    Slice the onion thin.
  4. 4
    Do not cook peas; layer all these and then sugar over this.

    Sprinkle 2 or more teaspoons grated Cheddar cheese.

    Fry the bacon crisp and crumble on top. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

    The salad will do its own combining during this time.

    Don't stir.

    Should any be leftover, it will keep nicely for 2 or 3 days if covered tightly with foil.
