Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1/3 cups White Sugar
  • 1/3 cups Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cups Sweetened, Condensed Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 6 ounces, weight Maltesers, Chopped
  • 2 cups Self-Rising Flour
  • 1/2 cups Plain Flour

Directions

  1. 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 4 baking trays with baking paper.
  2. 2
Beat butter and sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer until pale and creamy. Add condensed milk and vanilla and beat for a further 1 minute.
  3. 3
Add Maltesers (see note below) and both flours and stir with a large spoon until well-combined. Roll mixture into small walnut-sized balls and place onto prepared baking trays, leaving room between each cookie to allow them to spread while baking.
  4. 4
Gently press the cookies with a fork to flatten slightly. Bake cookies, 2 trays at a time, for 12-14 minutes, swapping trays halfway through. Let stand for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.

    Notes:
  6. 6
    1. Maltesers are a small, round British confectionery. They have a malt honeycomb centre and outer coating of milk chocolate. They can easily be replaced by any other chocolate candy (like malted milk balls or other) or even plain chocolate chips.

    2. This recipe makes a huge batch of cookies, about 50, but they will stay delicious for about a week if kept in an airtight container.
