All-Purpose Yeast Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 c. flour (bread flour is best)
  • 1 c. milk

    Scald milk.

    Put margarine, sugar and salt in work bowl.

    Pour scalded milk in bowl.

    Let cool to lukewarm.

    Add yeast; mix.

    Add egg; mix.

    Add flour a cup at a time and mix after each addition. Put dough into a bowl and cover; let rise.

    Shape into desired rolls.

    Let rise.

    Bake at 400° until nicely browned.

    This dough can be used for sweet rolls, cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, raised doughnuts, etc.
